Two roads run the length of the Treasure Coast. I-95 and Florida's Turnpike both cut through St. Lucie County, cross near Fort Pierce and split north of it. Most trips to a show start on one or the other. The concert life here runs on restored theaters, a city event center and free outdoor nights more than arenas, and that suits a lot of people just fine.

Theaters From the 1920s
The Sunrise Theatre in Fort Pierce opened on August 1, 1923, as a vaudeville house and was the largest theater between Jacksonville and Miami. It went dark as downtown faded, then Main Street Fort Pierce bought it and reopened it after a restoration in 2006. It sits on South Second Street, just off Orange Avenue.
The Lyric Theatre on Flagler Avenue in downtown Stuart opened in March 1926 with an organ overture. It began as a movie house, and its stage has since hosted everything from orchestras and jazz concerts to Lily Tomlin's solo show. A renovation in 2014 kept the old building working.
Free Nights and Small Rooms
- Riverside Theatre in Vero Beach runs Live in the Loop, free outdoor concerts on its grounds most Friday and Saturday nights, rain or shine. Food and drinks are sold on site, so bring a chair and make a night of it.
- Terra Fermata in Stuart books local bands and a steady run of tribute acts.
- In Port St. Lucie, the MidFlorida Credit Union Event Center holds about 1,200 across its ballrooms and hosts tribute shows and candlelight concerts.
Tribute bands are a big part of the Treasure Coast calendar, and the rock page is the easiest place to find them.
When to Head Out of Town
The biggest rooms here are theaters. For arena and amphitheater tours, the usual move is south to the amphitheater in West Palm Beach or north and west to Orlando. The Space Coast is just up I-95.
Weather and Season
Winter brings seasonal residents and busier roads. Summer brings heat and afternoon storms through the wet season, and hurricane season runs June 1 through November 30. Outdoor shows like Live in the Loop are the ones most likely to be affected, so look at the listing before you set out.
