The Moon on Lafayette Street started life as an A&P grocery store. Scott Carswell put a down payment on it in the mid 1980s and has run it ever since, and the room, which holds about 1,500, has hosted everyone from OutKast and the Red Hot Chili Peppers to Willie Nelson and Kenny Chesney. It has never stuck to one sound, and that is the point.

The Big Rooms
The Donald L. Tucker Civic Center at Florida State, nicknamed the Tuck, is home to FSU basketball and books concerts and family shows for North Florida and South Georgia.
The Adderley Amphitheater at Cascades Park opened in 2014 as the Capital City Amphitheater and holds about 3,500. In 2023 the city renamed it for Julian "Cannonball" Adderley and Nat Adderley, the jazz brothers who grew up here after their parents took jobs at Florida A&M, graduated from FAMU and are buried in Tallahassee. Each April, the park hosts Word of South, a festival that pairs authors and musicians across several stages, with most events free. Start with jazz and blues to keep the Adderley connection going.
Campus Nights
- Ruby Diamond Concert Hall on the FSU campus is the university's main hall for orchestras and touring artists.
- Club Downunder is run by FSU students and books acts aimed at a college crowd.
- On select Friday nights before FSU home football games, the free Downtown Getdown brings local bands to Adams Street.
Getting Around
Tallahassee runs on Eastern Time, an hour ahead of Pensacola and most of the western Panhandle. Summer storms can roll over Cascades Park in the late afternoon, so look at the forecast before an outdoor show. For more North Florida shows, see Gainesville.
