It moved
If you remember The Orpheum on Seventh Avenue in Ybor City, the club is still going, about ten miles north. After roughly 20 years in Ybor, owner Jerry Dufrain chose not to renew the lease, and the last Ybor concert was Suicide Silence in May 2022. The Orpheum reopened later that year at 14802 North Nebraska Avenue in north Tampa, in the old Southern Ground Brick Bar and Party Deck, a short walk from Skipper's Smokehouse.
Older listings may still show the Seventh Avenue address. The club is on North Nebraska now, so set your map to that one.
The Ybor years
The Orpheum spent two decades in the Ybor City entertainment district, moving once within the neighborhood in 2011 to its Seventh Avenue home. It built its name on loud, sweaty bills of metal, punk, hip hop and dance music, and the Killers once dropped in for a last minute set in November 2019.
When the club left, Ybor lost its stage for crowds too big for the bars and too small for The Ritz down the street.
On Nebraska Avenue
The Nebraska Avenue building was planned as an indoor and outdoor space, loosely modeled on Stubb's in Austin, keeping the wooden back patio from the old bar. The calendar still runs heavy and loud, with metal, punk, emo dance nights, hip hop and DJ parties.
Driving up
North Nebraska Avenue sits well beyond the streetcar line and the Ybor garages, so plan on driving or a rideshare. Dufrain put the drive up from Ybor at about 10 to 11 minutes. Many shows are open to all ages, while some club nights are 18 or 21 and up, so check your ticket before you bring a younger fan. Doors and bag rules vary by booking, too.
