Jacksonville's arena shares a neighborhood with the Jaguars. It sits in the Sports Complex on the east side of downtown, with the football stadium and the ballpark close by, and on a busy weekend all three can be running at once.

How it got here
The arena was built under the Better Jacksonville Plan to replace the old Jacksonville Coliseum. HOK Sport designed it, and it cost about $130 million. Elton John played the first concert in November 2003. The building was called Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Arena until March 2019, when a naming rights deal with VyStar Credit Union added the VyStar name. The Jacksonville Veterans Memorial Wall stands about a block away.
Some major tours have rolled through, and at least one started here. Rihanna opened her Anti World Tour in this building in 2016, Ariana Grande brought the Sweetener World Tour in 2019, and the arena has hosted several UFC events.
Parking and traffic
More than 6,500 parking spaces are shared among the arena, the stadium and the ballpark, including a covered deck at A. Philip Randolph Boulevard and East Duval Street. Event lots are paid and take cards only, so have one ready. When two venues in the complex have events the same night, traffic gets heavy and spaces go fast. For some big shows the arena has offered parking at downtown garages with a shuttle, so read the event notice before you leave. Coming from the beaches, the Hart Bridge lands you right by the complex.
Before you go
- Check your ticket for the night's lot and door details.
- Look up what else is happening at the stadium and ballpark that day.
- Agree on a meeting spot before the show, since everyone heads for the same lots at the end.
