FPL Solar Amphitheater at Bayfront Park

301 N. Biscayne Blvd., Miami · 5 upcoming shows

Bayfront Park covers 32 acres between Biscayne Boulevard and the bay in downtown Miami, and its amphitheater is the city's main outdoor concert stage. The sculptor Isamu Noguchi began redesigning the park in 1980, and his plan set an outdoor amphitheater beside the fountain. The Bayfront Park Management Trust, an agency of the City of Miami, looks after the grounds.

Names you may have seen

For years it was simply the Bayfront Park Amphitheater. A sponsorship deal with Live Nation in 2011 made it the Klipsch Amphitheater at Bayfront Park, and that is the name you will find on plenty of older listings. In January 2020 it became the FPL Solar Amphitheater, after Florida Power & Light built a solar installation with the park trust, the city and Live Nation. There are 500 panels and seven solar trees, plus a canopy over nearly 400 feet of walkway, and the setup makes more power than the venue uses across its concert season.

The setting

Fixed bench seating sits in front of the stage with a wide lawn behind it. The park around the amphitheater is also home ground for Ultra Music Festival, which came back downtown in 2022 after a stint on Virginia Key, so this patch of waterfront knows how to handle a big electronic crowd. Shania Twain played the amphitheater in 1999 on her Come On Over Tour, and CBS filmed a special during the run.

Getting there

The Metromover has three stations close to the park, Bayfront Park, First Street and College/Bayside, and Metrorail riders can transfer at Government Center. Drivers use the downtown garages, including the one at Bayside Marketplace, and rates shift with the event.

Heat, rain and the lawn

This is an outdoor show on the water. Summer afternoons bring storms that usually blow through before the headliner, and a humid night by the bay never fully cools off. Wear sunscreen for an early start, pack a poncho (it beats an umbrella in a crowd), and check your ticket for the bag and lawn rules for the night. Kaseya Center is a short walk north if you are making a night of downtown, and the Miami page lists everything else.
