Kaseya Center

If an old ticket stub in your drawer says AmericanAirlines Arena, it is the same building. The home of the Miami Heat opened under that name on December 31, 1999, with Gloria Estefan on stage. FTX bought the naming rights in 2021, the sign came down after the exchange went bankrupt, and the arena spent part of 2023 as Miami-Dade Arena before Kaseya signed a naming deal that April that runs 17 years.

Know before you go

On the bay at Biscayne Boulevard

Miami-Dade County owns the arena, which sits at 601 Biscayne Boulevard with Biscayne Bay right behind it. It holds close to 20,000 for basketball, and concerts use the whole bowl or a slice of it. The Waterfront Theater configuration seats somewhere between 3,000 and 5,800 and is billed as the largest indoor theater in Florida, which is how the arena books acts that want a theater feel downtown.

Taylor Swift, Adele, Coldplay, Rihanna, Shakira and Lady Gaga have all played here, and the MTV Video Music Awards came to the building in 2004 and 2005. Latin pop and reggaeton tours treat this room like a home game, and a crowd singing every word in Spanish is an ordinary night. Find more Latin shows around the state.

Getting there and parking

Downtown streets fill fast before a big show, so the train is worth a look. The Metromover stops at Freedom Tower and Park West stations, both a short walk from the doors, and Metrorail riders can switch to the Metromover at Government Center. Coming from Broward or the Palm Beaches, Brightline and Tri-Rail both run into MiamiCentral, right by Government Center.

The arena's own parking is small for a building this size, so most drivers end up in garages nearby, including the one at Bayside Marketplace. Rates move with the event, so check before you leave home.

Before the show

Bayside Marketplace sits between the arena and Bayfront Park, which makes it the easy place to grab dinner and walk over. If your show is outdoors at the FPL Solar Amphitheater at Bayfront Park, you are a few blocks south of here. Check your ticket for door times and the bag rules for the night, and open the Miami page for everything else on the calendar.
